Why I Chose To Be a Dentist In Evanston, IL

Since opening Artful Smiles Dental Studio sixteen months ago, I have been asked this question often and I think that addressing it in my blog would be informative for my patients. For over ten years, I have been practicing dentistry in Chicago; and although I absolutely adored my patients, there was always something missing. So, when I decided to start my own practice, the location was the most important. Moreover, this required some serious soul searching. Ultimately, the goal was to enjoy practicing dentistry.

Soon, I have realized that what has been missing in my previous working experience was the sense of community and the stability that Evanston personifies. The sense of community is tremendously different from Chicago’s.  Evanston has a small town feel with big city conveniences. The business community is tight knit and has been instrumental in the growth of my practice. There are also many opportunities for community participation and to showcase a small business. We are looking forward to summer festivals and fairs as well as extending our support for the local arts.

Why a Family Dentistry in Evanston, IL

Evanston has parks, playgrounds and great schools which make it one of the most family friendly places.  Since the cornerstone of Artful Smiles is Family Dentistry, it is important to me to practice in a family friendly community such as Evanston. Also, people who move to live in Evanston rarely leave. I like the idea of continuous dental care and seeing someone from baby’s first dental visit to making sure he or she is back from college spring break for a routine cleaning is my ultimate goal. This is one of the things that I’ve missed while practicing in the city since the population seems to be more transient.

Another important reason that made me choose to be a dentist in Evanston is that although diverse, this town reflects values that are most important to me. I find that most people here value education, family, culture, environment, and their health just like I do. It makes it easy and enjoyable to get to know my patients. I always want to relate to them on a more personal level and Evanston seems to fit me perfectly.
