At Artful Smiles, our goal is to provide you with high-quality dental care every time you come in for a visit. Part of our commitment to excellence is to serve our patients using state-of-the-art technology, which allows us to offer better quality dental care.
Dental radiography has changed a lot over the years, and we are proud to offer digital dental radiography (also referred to as digital x-ray technology) in our office. This modern technology has really improved how we do our work, resulting in better outcomes in our patient’s dental health.

Benefits of Digital Dental X-Rays

There are distinct benefits to using digital x-rays instead of traditional film x-rays. Here are a few reasons why we offer this service in our office:

  • Less Radiation Exposure: A dental digital x-ray uses up to 80% less radiation when compared with conventional x-rays. Reducing the levels of radiation exposure helps to protect our patient’s health.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Instead of traditional film processing, digital x-rays allow us to create images without the harsh chemicals that are used for processing the film. We are able to see the digital images and avoid harming the environment with chemical disposal.
  • Instant Results: Moments after your digital x-ray images are captured, they can be viewed on a computer monitor or iPad. There is no need to wait for the film to be developed; the results can be reviewed by the dentist instantly.

Why do Dentists Take X-Rays?

As skilled as our dental staff is, there are some things that just cannot be seen without an x-ray to scan the internal health of each tooth. Using digital x-ray scans, it is possible to identify potential problems and even take steps to prevent diseases and cavities. We use the scan to see what your mouth and teeth look like on the inside, making it easier to detect small problems before they turn into bigger issues. These digital x-rays are completely normal and part of our routine examination process.
