Here at Artful Smiles Dental Studio we are inspired by our ever-changing Chicago Spring. We are springing forward with two NEW dental innovations in our toolkit that will keep your smiles healthy and beautiful!

OMG it’s the DMG ICON!  For all of you who “suffer” from those annoying little white spots on your teeth, we now offer a simple, painless, enamel restoring procedure to fix them, so properly called the “ICON!”  Until now, dental professionals had limited choices in the treatment of white spots, mostly remineralizing enamel agents that took time with unpredictable results – “wait and see” until it’s time to “drill and fill.” DMG ICON is a breakthrough micro-invasive technology that fills and reinforces white spot enamel without drilling or anesthesia. Results are immediate and long lasting. This product has been available in Europe for a while, but now it is finally here in Evanston. That’s cool!

The second tool we are so excited about is our very own laser! Or as Dr. Evil would say, “A freakin’ laser”! We are really geeking out over this one. Lasers have been used in dentistry from 1960’s, but recently they became more compact while their applications have greatly widened. There are several advantages to using lasers: laser procedures are more precise and require minimal or no anesthetic. Also, lasers can reduce symptoms and healing times associated with traditional therapies, reduce the amount of bacteria in both diseased gum tissue and in tooth cavities, and control bleeding during surgery. Just for starters, we can use our laser to treat canker and cold sores, promote the best possible healing result after gum therapy, and prevent surgery in most cases. This is definitely something to get excited about!
