Do You Need Dentures?

There are many reasons as to why you may need dentures, and you should talk with your cosmetic dentist to choose the right restorative treatments for your mouth. Some of the reasons why you might consider either partial or full dentures include:

  • Loss of teeth due to gum disease
  • Tooth decay
  • Traumatic injury that damaged your teeth

Often, people forgo the care that they need and hide their smile because they are too embarrassed to ask for help. Our dentist at Artful Smiles Dental Studio is more than happy and willing to help you restore your smile so that you can begin to speak, laugh, and even eat with ease. One of the best ways to restore your daily function is to look into getting artificial teeth.

Full or Partial Dentures?

What type of dentures do you need? Your cosmetic dentist can assess your individual situation and help you make the best decision based on your needs. Here are the two options that are available:

  • Partial Dentures: Used when a patient still has a few natural teeth left in their lower and upper jaw. A partial denture is set into place with a pink, gum-colored base that not only completes your smile, but also helps to keep your original teeth in place. Similar to complete sets, partials are completely removable at your convenience.
  • Full Dentures: Traditional dentures are crafted if a patient is missing all of his or her teeth, or if the remaining natural teeth have been removed in order to wear a complete denture.

Once you’ve been fitted with your dentures, it will take some time to get used to your new smile. You will have to practice taking them in and out, and also adapt to how they will feel inside your mouth. But once you are used to your new teeth, you’ll be delighted with how much easier eating and speaking will become! Contact our office for more information about dentures and other cosmetic dental options that are available.
